Performing Artist
Performance art is an art of storytelling and, personally, my favorite cultivator of community. Theatre, song, dance, burlesque, circus, drag, and variety performance art enriches local culture, cultivates community, and tells our stories.

Directing and designing is an opportunity to bring the truest vision imaginable to life. More than managing, as a director or designer I must engage and uplift artists to tell our stories, enrich community, and give platform to diversity. I educate myself, own my privilege, hire artists of color, accept feedback, and continue to be a better ally for marginalized communities.

It is no longer enough to place the labour burden of antiracism on BIPOC. Allies must champion this work by uplifting diverse stories.
